We encounter little stones and pebbles all the time, but have you ever powonderedhat we may do with them other than pile them somewhere? Fortunately, a Japanese artist has unique ideas for transforming them into something remarkable.

Meet Akie Nakata (also known as Akie), a Japanese artist whose art paintings are capturing the attention of people all around the world. She turns ‘boring’ stones into miniature creatures that you may hold in your palm.

Akie feels that each rock has a story to tell, therefore she resolves to use art to transform their lives. She frequently picks stones infromhich she can see animals to create paintings. She then uses acrylic paint to meticulously paint the stone’s surfaces. Akie’s stone creatures are extremely lifelike, ranging from cats and dogs to owls, mice, and even a full opossum family.

Akie has always enjoyed collecting stones and drawing since she was a youngster. She began painting rocks in 2011 after discovering a stone that resembled a bunny while walking along the riverbank.

Although a stone is not a living entity, it is difficult to ignore the beauty of her works. Scroll down to see some of her amazing work on the list below. If you like her paintings, you may find more of them on her Facebook page.
