Denise’s photographer, Maria, introduced the two friends to one other in 2019. Denise proposed shooting a shot together wearing the same bikini after working together on multiple photoshoots – she wanted to exhibit the same swimsuit on diverse body shapes and promote body acceptance.

It fared so well on social media that the pair was overjoyed to get so many favorable comments. It spurred them to make and share additional videos, and their fan base swiftly grew. Denise now has 1.5 million Instagram followers, while Maria has around 492 thousand.

“Once TikTok became big, we decided to shoot a fun video, and that’s when it became viral,” Denise previously told Bored Panda. Then they realized they needed to choose a hashtag and launch a genuine body-positivity campaign. Their Instagram followers chose between #ThroughThickAndThin and #StyleNotSize, and the latter triumphed, as you may have guessed.

Maria previously said that they first wore a similar outfits but not the exact same things. “We definitely wanted to push the limits and go for it! We dressed from head to toe to display the same appearance on various bodies.”

“We were so pleased with the public reaction that I suppose we now approach it like a job! A career that involves educating and exposing people to the unlimited possibilities of fashion. As a result, we update more regularly and cater to every type so that everyone may enjoy our material “She continued.

Denise noted that the film’s main message is “to wear whichever you want and to appreciate your body.” It’s time, she says, to “stop comparing yourself to others” and start cultivating a good self-image from the inside. “We want to continue this movement because we can encourage so many people to feel secure and be themselves,” she says.

Maria also noted that they had been quite busy “trying to push the boundaries of today’s industry norms! We truly want the industry to hear and understand the importance of inclusivity. Plus size, petite, tall, and normal sizes should be accessible to the general public since we all have bodies that are equally significant and should be treated as such.”

The efforts of the style influencers seem to be paying off since they believe the body-positive trend is becoming increasingly embraced by both contemporary culture and the fashion industry. “It’s been so simple for me now to locate things that suit both Maria and myself well,” Denise remarked. “Even sustainable clothing is available, which is fantastic! The industry is evolving, and although there are still some changes to be done, we are on the right track!”

By taking on a range of initiatives, the couple seems to be ensuring that the fashion industry becomes even more accessible. They just collaborated with Abercrombie & Fitch to co-create a fall line. “It’s mind-boggling how much more of yourself you can exhibit when companies aren’t the ones criticizing and how much society transforms when people aren’t informed what is beautiful by the business,” Maria told Teen Vogue.

“It’s considerably more appealing.” Denise concurred. “I never imagined that a pair of Abercrombie jeans could look so beautiful on me. Abercrombie has gone a long way in terms of modern fashion.”

This collaboration drew Macy’s attention and resulted in a loungewear line. Maria told WWD that she believes it is more about your style than your size and that “we truly want the fashion industry to be size-inclusive.” Furthermore, the clothing is designed to be both comfy and attractive.

They ensured that the materials, fabrics, and patterns are current since “the fashion business tries to do things extremely basic for a wide range of sizes.” Maria further said “Every woman on the planet is human, and we all come in all forms and sizes. We put forth a lot of effort to select the appropriate things to highlight for Style Not Size.”

“We’re here to empower women and make them feel attractive and in control, not to criticize or degrade,” she says of the series. They remind people all around that size does not have to define your wardrobe by encouraging body acceptance and demonstrating that two different bodies can happily wear the same item. “We are quite proud of Style Not Size, and we enjoy viewing each and every Style Not Size video from other ladies.”
